System Requirements

filament runs on modern macOS and Windows systems. Here are the detailed requirements.

Operating System

macOS

  • macOS 13 (Ventura) or later
  • Intel or Apple Silicon (native)
  • 64-bit only

Windows

  • Windows 10 or later
  • 64-bit only

  • Audio Unit (AU)

Hardware Requirements

RAM

Minimum

4GB RAM (8GB or more recommended for large templates)

Disk Space

Minimum

50MB for filament installation

Display

Recommended

1280x720 minimum resolution

Host Compatibility

Use Filament in a DAW or host that supports the supplied plugin formats. Beta testers reported using it in Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton Live, Reaper, Studio One, FL Studio, Bitwig Studio, Nuendo, Digital Performer, and other hosts. DAW-specific setup can vary, so we provide guides for common host workflows.

If you use another VST3 or AU host, check that it supports the relevant plugin format and MIDI routing workflow before relying on it for production work.

Internet Connection

An internet connection is required for:

  • Initial license activation
  • Downloading updates

Once activated, filament works offline.

Recommended Setup

For the best experience with large orchestral templates:

  • 16GB RAM or more
  • SSD storage for sample libraries
  • Dedicated audio interface with low latency
  • Multi-core processor for handling many instrument tracks
