Installation Issues
Plugin not appearing in DAW
The plugin may not be in your DAW's plugin scan path, or it may be blocked.
- 1.Verify the plugin is in the correct folder (see Installation guide)
- 2.Rescan plugins in your DAW preferences
- 3.macOS: Check System Settings → Privacy & Security for blocked apps
- 4.Windows: Try running the installer as Administrator
Plugin crashes on load
This is usually caused by incompatible system requirements or corrupted installation.
- 1.Verify your system meets the minimum requirements
- 2.Uninstall and reinstall filament
- 3.Try loading in a different DAW to isolate the issue
MIDI Routing Issues
No MIDI output to instruments
MIDI isn't reaching your virtual instruments from filament.
- 1.Verify filament is receiving MIDI (check the input meter)
- 2.Check that output rows are enabled and have voice assignments in the routing matrix
- 3.Verify your DAW's MIDI routing is configured correctly
- 4.Ensure the plugin is loaded in the filament output row
Wrong instruments receiving MIDI
MIDI is going to the wrong instruments.
- 1.Check the routing matrix—filament uses a routing matrix, so verify which voice layers are connected to which output rows
- 2.Check other voice layers for conflicting connections
- 3.Verify you're on the correct keyswitch (each keyswitch has its own routing configuration)
MIDI latency or delay
Notes feel delayed or sluggish when playing.
- 1.Check your audio interface buffer size — lower is faster but uses more CPU
- 2.Reduce the Input Delay setting in filament settings if you're a precise player
- 3.Disable any unnecessary plugins in the signal chain
Performance Issues
High CPU usage
filament itself uses minimal CPU. High usage is usually from loaded instruments.
- 1.Check CPU usage per track in your DAW to identify the source
- 2.Enable Multi-Core mode (set to Auto) to distribute processing across CPU cores
- 3.Use purge features in sample libraries to reduce memory and CPU load
- 4.Reduce the number of active output rows if you're not using them all
Audio dropouts or glitches
Crackling, pops, or dropouts during playback.
- 1.Increase your audio interface buffer size
- 2.Close other applications using CPU or memory
- 3.Ensure your computer isn't thermal throttling
Activation Issues
License activation failed
The plugin won't accept your license key.
- 1.Ensure you have an internet connection
- 2.Copy the complete license key with no extra spaces
- 3.Check that you haven't exceeded the 3-computer activation limit
- 4.Contact support if you need to deactivate an old computer
Lost license key
You can't find your license key.
- 1.Search your email for your purchase confirmation
- 2.Contact support with your purchase email address
